Kate, as I sometimes called her, was my friend, mentor and coworker since she joined the Grievance Department of OPSEU in 1992. Her presence in the department will be greatly missed. I will miss her dearly. My condolences to her partner, family, and friends. As we say in Jamaica, "Walk Good".

for majda, moira, bud, jacqueline, craig, rosalyn, daniel, caitlyn and siobhan; yet another time for us to try (ineptly, it feels) to express our profound feelings of sorrow and loss. of all the family, we had time to know kathleen the best. we had so many laughs and smiles in the gardens of st. catherine street...so many nice visits, years of cards in the mail and notes in the door. delaney remembers all the "popsits" that kathleen gave her (there were MANY). although we've moved away from our shared house, we miss her. we miss hearing her humming through the walls (she was so relaxed when she was there). we miss helping her put together all her bargain second-hand store treasures she would find for the house. we'll miss taking care of it. and we'll never forget her. i don't know if any of you knew, but micheal planted a wisteria when he was living...it died, and maureen planted another, and it died. i planted a third, on your side of the house, and kathleen and i shared in the care and delight of finally having a wisteria grow and blossom...micheal and maureen and kathleen all loved wisteria. it grows and blossoms still, over the fence. wishing we were able to hug you all, and with much love to each of you, jen, john and delaney in kingston

One year ago Kathleen drove with me to a property I have near Kingston. She encouraged me to drive - I had had extensive surgery and didn't think I could - and without her I may never have discovered I could drive. When we got there she pulled out her easel and paints. She told me she was going to be the first person to paint the view of the lake. I remember her now sitting on the deck painting happily and explaining to me about perspective, and some other art terms. She insisted that I also should learn to paint, and she gave me the painting, which I treasure. Kathleen was a strong, positive example. I look out at her garden across the street and take strength from it. Her spirit remains with us. Her life, laughter and beauty will continue to inspire. I consider myself fortunate to have shared a little of her infectious joy. I wish much strength and peace to Majda and all the family in this very difficult time. .

Jacqueline, I know no words could be mustered that would alleviate the enormous amount of pain you and your family are feeling right now. I also know that the impotent anger I feel that such tragedy continues to befall the family of such a superb human being must pale to the futility you are feeling right now. I suppose all I can say and do is to offer my saddest condolences to you and your family, add my voice to the chorus of individuals who respect and care about supporting you in any way we can, and to remind you that "right now" never lasts forever... My thoughts are with you, and I'm so sorry.

Dear Majda, Moira and Bud, Jackie, Ross and Families; No words can bring true comfort,a strong and gentle soul has left us behind. There will forever be a space for all of us who knew and loved Kathleen that will not be a part of our lives again. I take great comfort in the happiness that was a part of Kathleen's life with Majda, her work that she was devoted to, the people that she loved and took such joy in. Even through the unspeakable losses in her life so recently,Kathleen embraced life with all that it had in store and celebrated, always celebrated the truly important things. So difficult to lose such a spirit. We grieve with you. Love, Linda and Denis.

I was very saddened to hear of Kathleen's passing. Between 1987 and 2000 I had the good fortune to work first with Rosalyn and then Kathleen. OPSEU was something of a madhouse when Kathleen and I worked there, but she always managed to keep calm and to keep her sense of humour. We worked together on a contract negotiation for Metro Toronto Housing which required me to call back to her with advise from a vacation in Europe and I still remember her pleasure at the silliness of the whole thing. My condolences to the family. Perhaps Rosalyn and Daniel if you are ever in Brandon we can have a glass of red wine in Kathleen's honour. Brian Mayes

It was with great sadness that I heard of Kathy's death. What a tragic loss. I am one of the group that spent so much fun time together with Kathy when we were teenage girls. We were all so close and what great fun we had when we were in high school at Cathedral in Kingston. So many times I have reminisced and thought about all the old friends with whom we have lost touch. I live in Texas now (for many years), but it just seems like yesterday that Kathy was part of my life and perhaps, as we all do, I regret waiting too long to reestablish ties.
