I lived on Brownlow Ave sorta behind Jack's Texaco Station in 1966 and had my GTO serviced there. I always admired him as a self made man. Quite often over the years I have thought of him. I still have one of his 2 sided business cards with nails, manure, orgies etc on it! AAA personality which I admire. Ya gotta break eggs to make cake. I note the Station is long gone. Gods Speed Jack, whatever that means. Fill it with Super Chief. Gord.

Jannene and Shawn, we are very sorry for your loss. Uncle Jack has left us with many memories. From my visits to the cottage as a child to our visits in Toronto with Jack, it seems there was always a great story to tell. I'm sure his memory will live on for years as we recount the escapades over and over. All our love. Ian & Bonnie

Jack was a patient of mine for several years. What a great, honest and charitable man. He had a great sense of humour and a love for the fun things in life. He loved cars, dogs and the out of doors. He had the nine lives of a cat with several near death experiences. Friendships were important to him and he was loyal to those he cared for. He always had a treat for my dog and chocolate for me. I will miss you Jack

We are saddened to hear of Jack's passing. Our condolences to his family. Pat came to Canada in 1957. In 1958 he bought a 1954 Dodge and brought it to Jack for maintenance. Jack was always in overdrive. On my second visit with my accent Jack thought I was asking for credit and he said okay and he was surprised when I went to pay him. That,s the kind of person Jack was. He trusted people. Jack was very well respected in our neighborhood even his Dog would come to visit us on Taunton Rd. But I can,t remember the dog,s name it was a big Brown Chow. Rest in Peace Jack.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of Jack. I considered him a friend having first met him in 1960 with my days with Texaco. Jack was an astute businessman and we all learned from his business acumen. I personally spent many hours with him socially and, of course, when my car was being serviced. Over the years Jack sold several cars for me both from Mount Pleasant and Leaside. He was always positive and cheerful and have a huge following of friends and clients who equally admired and respected him. His early morning "salesroom" coffee guests included those from the world of sports and the legal profession. Several years ago we met for lunch and as I live in Oshawa we sort of lost track. We are both heart by-pass graduates of Sunnybrook. I will miss Jack and extend my deepest sympathy to his family. By coincidence my father in law was a customer of Jack's brother (1950's) who operated the Sunoco station also on Mount Pleasant north of Broadway. (Robert Sinclair of Keewatin St. who prematurely died in 1957) Sincerely, Michael Heney

The summer of 1967 after four years in Europe and four children we had a summer vacation with Jack, Mildred, Shawn & Jannene at their cottage on Lake Chandos. The cottage had two rooms, no electricity, no indoor plumbing. There was a big boat repaired with crazy glue and duck tape. We had a wonderful time after being away for four years. Jannene & Shawn and their Mother Mildred are in our thoughts today. We thank the McConnell family for their hospitality and kindness always. Uncle Mel& Aunt Gladys

Jack was a very good friend of our father and mother, Albert and Irene Watson. They spent many goods times together. Jack was a member of the Leaside Gyro and Dad and Jack curled together also. They travelled on golf holidays, fishing, etc. He was around lots during our (Gail, Bob, Brian and Scot Watson) growing up years. My husband, Brian Gervais, had his car serviced at Jack's station for many years. We will remember Jack as a fun-loving man. Our sincere condolences to Sean and Janine and all the McConnell family. Gail and Brian Gervais

Brian was deeply saddened by your news of Jack's passing. He said that he saw him every day for 15 years..many years ago though now. Brian is unable to attend the visitation or the service due to the fact that he is a guest of Credit Valley Hospital fighting some infection maybe pneumonia (they're not sure) and is hoping for release by the end of the week but will be confined to home rest and antibiotics for possibly 6 weeks. He sends his sympathies and regrets.

I started working with Jack in 1988. I was pretty fresh from Newfoundland and he took me under his wing offering guidance, support and a great friendship. I enjoyed spending time with him at his cottage playing crib for hours. I spent a lot of time with him on Ward's Island playing crib on his boat. We only worked together for a few years and I moved on, but I made a special point of visiting Jack with my son every Christmas day for the past 15 years. I was honoured to introduce Jack to my son and I believe we all looked forward to these special visits. He also gave a little gift to me or my son. This past Christmas he shared a rum cake with us, and gave DJ his first cordless drill that he will cherish forever.

During this difficult time I would like to extend my most heartfelt sympathies. Your Dad was a great man and we shared a multitude of good times. I regret I am unable to extend my sympathies in person due to the fact that I am confined to Credit Valley Hospital. Thank you for your phone call to inform me of his passing.
