My husband, Paul, and I and are 2 tiny kids rented the cottage next door to Helen and Bob in the summer of 1955. We spent a lot of time with them and just loved them to bits. We bought our own cottagein Muskoka the next year or would have gone back to Cedar Point probably. We saw them a bit in Toronto and then lost touch - big mistake. They were a wonderful couple and Helen was beautiful, adorable and great fun. Wish I had known her in later years - I bet she continued to be phenomenally attractive and a joy to all who knew her. I remember you kids as looking like Dad, dark and curly-haired. Jim Stuart was our broker for many years. 87 is a good run - I'm 82 and in reasonable health but counting. All the best from an old friend.

Dear Jan: It has been so many years since we grew up in North Toronto. I remember your mother very fondly as someone who was so welcoming of me as a child and so glamorous seeming to my young eyes. I send my sympathy to you and all of your family and keep my happy memories of a lovely woman. Sincerely, Elizabeth

We send you all our most heartfelt condolences for the loss of "Aunt Helen" to us all. The obituary in the G & M was so appropriate to capture your Mom's full life. As we talked on the phone yesterday Rob, I feel the loss with you as more than a lifelong friend but as one who saw your Mom as part of a second family to me. Helen's humour, kindness and pure energy could light up a room and combined with your Dad's wit, made so many cottage events a great time for all.(especially for us kids, put to sleep in the bunk beds, as the grown ups carried on the party for us to hear it all!) We will miss Helen and cherish our memories of her with you and know our thoughts are with you now. Love from the Porter family.
