Dear Pat & family: We were very saddened to hear of Bob's passing and regret that we were not able to see you in person, just to give you a hug in an effort to express our feelings. We were thinking back to the days when our young families first met at the church in Port Credit and of the many experiences we shared in that community. Bob took on many leadership roles, in which Rowlie shared, and most of the time we had a wonderful time in a terrific church family. Then the years passed and both families left Mississauga, only to rencounter at old Mad River. I, Rowlie, also remember sharing board and other community work with Bob as we journeyed through corporate life. He was always gentle but firm in his views and I often was glad of his counsel. Each of us only touches a small part of the lives of others as we make our journey through this life. We were lucky to share a small part of Bob in a few terrific ways and for those memories we are grateful. We both send our love and prayers as you go through this difficult time. We know you will have the support of a loving family and a wonderful circle of friends. Our wordless hugs go with this note of sympathy!

Dear Pat We were very saddened to read of Bob's death on Monday, especially since I had been talking to you at Interludes just last Thursday. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this very difficult time. Bob gave so much to so many organizations and his contribution to the symphony was significant and appreciated by all who worked with him. We would like to have been with you today, but with Ross' mobility restricted we thought it would be difficult, knowing there would be a large crowd. We do, though extend our sympathy to you all and send our prayers and condolences. Fondly, Ann K.

Dear Patricia and family, I am writing to express my condolences to you on Bob's passing. I knew only a part of him, through his time on the York University board and my time as Dean of Fine Arts. He was helpful to me personally in so many ways, encouraging me as I learned the ropes and opening several doors for me and through me for the students and faculty. His generosity of spirit was a special gift to us all. I recall how importasnt it was to him that the gift to the Accolade Project be in the name of the Martin Family, and through discussions with him, I learned how important family was to him. You will of course miss him terribly, but take comfort in knowing what a diffference he made in the lives of those he helped through the gifts of his time and energy. My thoughts are with you all, Phillip Silver
