Dear Phyllis: We just returned from Nepal late last week and heard of Alan's passing from Marsha. We're so very sorry to hear the news. Although Alan had been ill for such a long time, it is always difficult. Know that we are thinking of you and Naomi, Alex, Bryan and their families. With love, Karin and George.

I was so sorry Phyllis to learn, on my return from Florida, that Alan passed away at the beginning of this month. My thoughts and condolences are with you and all the family. The Zagrodneys have told me that you may have a memorial service here in Sarnia and if that is the case I shall look forward to seeing you again. In the meantime enjoy the approach of spring and my wishes for a happy Eastertime. Pamela

Dear Phyllis and Family: Isabell and I want to be remembered to you and we send our condolences at this sad time. We'd lost touch and didn't know you were in Toronto Phyliss. Our daughter Janice and family live in the St. Clair/Caledonia area so we get down to To. often. We remember Allan as a kind and knowledgeable physician whom I consulted often. He also cared for Isabell's dad once when he had pneumonia. And we so remember those wonderful progressive dinners. These last years can't have been easy ones as his health declined and we wish you well in the difficult months ahead. Isabell and John

Dearest Nomes, Rick, Gregor, Roddy, Alicia We were so sorry to learn of your loss yesterday from dear Alannah. Although I didn't know your Dad, I know he had to have a great sense of humour and a real twinkle in his eye to have been father to you Nomes. Any man who loves tending roses has a special spot in my heart - especially an Irish man. I'm sending you a poem that keeps cheering me on - when I miss my parents -as I truly believe- they are never very far away. Deep sympathy to all your family. Let's have a "cheer up" drink together soon. Thinking of you. Love Susan and the Jasper boys. xoxo

I was very touched to read all of your beautiful thoughts and memories of Dr. Houston. In my experience, he was indeed a fine and gentle man, who enjoyed a good medical discussion no matter how unwell he was feeling. He is now at peace. He was unusually fortunate in that he was able to witness how his wife and children pulled together to care for him. I am sure that meant a great deal to him, as it will to all of you now as you find the way forward without him. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Marcia
