Obituary of Amilcare A. Iannucci

Amilcare A. Iannucci died on February 6, 2007 in Toronto surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan. He is survived by his three children, Anna, Mathew and Emily, his father Pompilio, his mother Giulia, brother Fernando, sister-in-law Mary and nephews Paolo and Daniele, all of whom loved him very much. He also leaves behind two dear friends, who, like his family, sustained him to the end, Leonila Gambol and Alex Kisin. Amilcare A. Iannucci was a considerate, loving, and generous man, who will be missed, remembered, and cherished by all those whose lives he touched, including his colleagues and students at University of Toronto where he was a Professor of Comparative Literature. A distinguished scholar, and dedicated teacher, he was always available to spend time with his students and share his knowledge with them. He was truly a gentleman and a scholar. Daddy, thank you for your guidance, generosity, and especially your unqualified love. We will miss you terribly, but know that you will live in our hearts forever. Good-bye! The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, February 8th and Friday, February 9th. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Newman Centre, 89 St. George Street. (at Hoskin and Harbord) on Saturday, February 10th at 12 noon. Interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate a donation to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, 610 University Avenue, Toronto M5G 2M9.
