In about 1960 I met Ed. He was living with my ex-husband, Fred and another friend on Broadway Ave. While I lived in the west end of the city I did meet Ed on several occasions and loved his sense of humour and his outgoing personality. We thought so highly of him that when our first daughter was born he was asked to be her godfather. Lisa, born in May,1962, did not have the opportunity to really know him as her narrow-minded father broke off communications with Ed. I sent a few Xmas cards to Ed but as I rec'd no response I lost touch with him but never forgot him. In 1980 I left my marriage but brought memories with me and Ed is among them. Lisa and I have pictures of him and her godmother, Sally, and I have told her about him and the good times we shared before she was born and we moved to Eobicoke. Saturday, the memories surfaced when I saw Ed's name in the notice in the Globe. Reading his obituary, I wanted to tell his family, partner and friends that he is remembered fondly. I would have been a friend who would have visited him when he was ill and it haunts me that he did not know the fine woman his godaughter has become. He would have loved Lisa, I'm sure, and I know she would have loved him. The smile in the photo is as I remember him, he's just a little grayer. My sympathy and thoughts go out to you. I thought you might not object to my recollections. He will always be remembered affectionately. Sincerely, Romana Marconi
