Dear Vicky and Jeff, A long chapter in our lives is now closed with the passing of your father. Until his retirement party, and seeing both of you in Toronto that evening; some of my fondest memories of Oakville centered on our two families in close proximity, when Vicky was our baby sitter! Your father was an automotive icon for the writer. Even though we were apart geographically for an imense time that strained how close our relationship could be; I always considered him to be one of my closest friends. He certainly had an influential impact not only when I worked for him early in my career, but his council, support, and encouragement lasted a lifetime. Unfortunately, like many talented, driven, and ambitious executives in our industry; he lived in the field, and was happiest I believe when he traveled from coast to coast or worldwide in the middle of the "action" with "dealers". Regrettably, that sacrifice and direction, was reflected in the deterioration of the relationship with your mother, who I personally adored along with Diane. Please send Fay our very best wishes. I do know that his family was always foremost in his thoughts and that your personal welfare and happiness was at the forefront of his battle with cancer. While I regret my inability to visit him at Ian Anderson House or communicate well with him by telephone there, both Daine and I personally know from her fathers similar visit, that the care and support is unequal to what many experience under similar conditions. When I attend your services Saturday, I am confident you will see both dealer and factory freinds well represented for not only the friendship Vic extended to them, but the impact and influence he contributed to their lives and businesses, along with their careers. With the exception of your entire family, few men in that room will exceed the respect and admiration felt by myself, and our family, and few could have loved him more than I did personally. My deepest sympathy to you and your family is extended in the most heartfelt terms. Love, Jim and Diane Cornwall
