Obituary of Kenneth O'Brien
Kenneth Milton O'Brien
On Wednesday, June 1, 2011, Ken passed away peacefully at Guelph General Hospital with family by his side. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia on November 5, 1941, Ken was the beloved husband of Leslie and wonderful father/stepfather of Paul (Paul), Torrey (Cory), Brandon (Jane) and Sherri. A doting grandfather to Morgan, Noa, Taia, Alexandra and Matthew, Ken could always be counted on to spoil those he loved. Raised in Noel, Ken was the cherished son of Bertha Elizabeth O'Brien and the late Milton William O'Brien. Brother of the late Marjorie, the late Eric, Don (Elaine) and Carol (David), Ken was a man who cared greatly about others. Ken will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Ken proudly served in the Canadian Army from 1957-1963. He continued his career with The Canada Permanent Trust, later retiring from the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in 2003. An avid golfer (with a hole-in-one to his credit) and a John Wayne fan, Ken will be sorely missed by all those whose lives he touched. The funeral service will be held in the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Saturday, June 4 at 5:00 p.m. Interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date in Noel, Nova Scotia. Having lived over twenty years on dialysis, in lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's memory made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, Ontario Branch, 1599 Hurontario Street, Suite 201, Mississauga L5G 4S1 would be greatly appreciated by the family.
