Obituary of Donald Drawbell
Donald MacLeod Drawbell
In his 81st year and after a very brave five year battle with colorectal cancer, Donald (Don) passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is survived by his wife Barbara Ann Foreman, son Steven, daughter Julia Fillmore, son-in-law Peter, sister Catherine Black Larcher, brother-in-law Anthony Moulder and his many nieces and nephews in Ontario and British Columbia. He is predeceased by his sister Marion MacLeod Moulder. Born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland, Don attended the Royal College of Science & Technology (Civil Engineering). He immigrated to Canada in 1952, where he worked for the CNR in Toronto, Stratford, London and Hamilton, Ontario. In 1960 he became a property manager, CPM., FRI. Don subsequently joined Realtor A.E.LePage in 1963 and stayed for 31 years until he retired in 1994. Typically, the following day he formed BMCI - his own consulting firm. Clients included SNC Lavalin (Nexicor & Profac). A past member of REIC and a BOMA Life Member, Don will be fondly missed by his extended family, friends and neighbours. He was a true gentleman who never forgot his Scottish roots and will be remembered for his dry sense of humour and scathing wit. This true Scot, had a sweet tooth, loved his imported chocolate, strawberry jam and an 'occasional' beer. A music lover, he and Barb especially loved their years of enjoyment at the TSO. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for a remembrance visitation at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11. There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, please make sure you and your loved ones have a colonoscopy. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com
