I just learned of your John's death by my mother, Muriel Hall. I don't know if David, Elizabeth or Marilyn remembers our family form the 50's and 60's, when we spent so many wonderful hours at each others homes. I remember fondly your mother Helen and dad Bob, at that time, (I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Sandra) were such good friends to my parents. I was so sorry to hear about Johns passing. My heart goes out to his wife Sandy, and daughter Allie and all his rest of the Creightons. I didn't know John as an adult but he sounded like a wonderful active person who lived life to the fullest. I am so sorry for your loss. Sandra (Hall) Crowe

We will miss you and all the wonderful times that you have shared with each of us. You have touched our hearts in so many ways. Much love, Julie, Marty and family.

To the Creighton Family: It is with a very heavy and saddened heart that I send my sympathies to you for the loss of John. He touched the lives of everyone he met in a positive way and he will be sadly missed by all. John was the most amazing person that I have ever met. He will live on through all that knew and loved him. Our memories, our experiences with him and the multitude of advice he has given us will keep him in our hearts FOREVER! It is a great honour for me to be able to call John my friend - an even greater honour that he called me his friend. My love to you all. Sincerely, Barb Wasson

John and I spent a few Halloweens over the years swapping candy while on Halloween duty -he reluctantly gave up his caramels for Mr.Big-only because Mr.Big had caramel in it and he liked the name"Mr.Big".We would kid and joke and tease and he would give me all the news about our high school cronies, especially his tight knit group of "the boys"and where they were plotting their next trip.He always encouraged me to attend some of the Leaside get-togethers even though he knew I was reticent to do so.I loved teasing him and trash talking Don Cherry -he kept wanting to show me that autograph. He sweetly tolerated my mother admonishing him for not wearing sunscreen when he was baking out in the sun on his front porch( they are neighbours on Parkhurst).I will miss our joking of each other, the impromptu catching up sessions and the nod and wave we exchanged when he would leave his driveway in the truck as I pulled into my mother's driveway. My heart goes out to the Creighton family -Barb Dorpat

There is absolutely something about Leaside and Hockey that makes the bonds of friendship, unbreakable.
One of my fondest memories of "Herman" occurred during a LHS hockey game at Leaside Gardens. John must have skipped a couple grades at school, because, although I was a few years older ... we ended up playing on the same team. From a face-off deep in the opposing teams end, the puck went directly back to John, and before you could say "seas gu dileas", the cannonading blast was in the roof of the East York net. As I raced over to congratulate him, his huge smile and open arms engulfed me in the ultimate, "Bear" hug. I will never forget it. We miss you Herm. Here's to one more hug!
Your old friend, Breeze!

I met John over 45 years ago.
He was the kid that lived on the corner of Hanna within eye shot of my new home on Bessborough Dr.
I quickly became best friends with skinny boy who spoke with a lisp!
We spent hours playing tennis baseball(or "french" as we used to call it for some unknown reason), hockey, football, squares, basketball and every other sport that could conceivably be played in our own stadium that was the Bessborough school yard.
As teenagers we experienced many "firsts" together just like everyone does at that age. We shared the excitement of our first loves and the empty feeling of our first break-up. Our first jobs, our first car, the first time on an airplane when we made what seemed at the time to be such a huge trip when we flew to North Bay. I felt like your house was my house and I know you felt the same about mine.
I shared and felt your happiness when you married Sandy and felt the love that you have for Alie.
There were so many experiences shared we shared together and I know I will spend a lifetime remembering them all.
I loved you as a brother and you will be sorely missed.
Rest peacefully my Friend.

I miss him already. I remember Bearjaw and I, hanging and carousing at his house on Hanna. We would get on our bikes and ride to the PINT Store and pick up a case and ride it home on the handlebars.
Later in life we would either take my Riviera or his PINTo and do the same thing with always a gaggle around us.
Always there to back you up and always up for a fun time. The world will sorely miss Bearjaw.

Still reeling after hearing the news of John's sudden passing, I would like to express my sincere condolences to Sandy, their daughter Alexandra, the Creighton Family and all of John's good friends.
I have such wonderful memories of John since first meeting him in Gr.7 at Bessborough Public School. He always seemed so cool on the outside but was kind and sweet on the inside. Even though we lost touch after high school - reuniting during the Leaside reunions, he always greeted me with a big Creighton smile and hug - reminding me what a great guy he was. Our 'gang' had so many great times together from Gr.7 - 13, house parties, concerts at Ontario Place, skating on Friday nights at Leaside Memorial and getting into other teenage mischief!
So much of what John had said about Bob during his incredibly touching speech this past Sunday applies to him as well. 'Creighton' was a wonderful guy, sentimental, kind and loving - he will stay in my heart forever.
Missing you John,
Louise Martin (Robinson)

I have had the absolute pleasure of knowing "Creights" and his family for over 40 years. Marilyn and I used to watch our Johns' playing for the Kings from the stands at Leaside Gardens with great pride. John was a tireless promoter of all things Leaside and he certainly walked the walk. John lived and worked in Leaside and was always available to lend a hand to his many friends and colleagues.
In 2005 when I started work on the LHS Alumni website John became a major player reporting on the goings on of his group 1975-1979.
If ever there was a person deserving of the title "Mr. Leaside" it's John Creighton. I will miss him.
My heart goes out to John's family especially Sandy and Allie.

Dear Sandy, Allie, Marilyn, Liz, Dave and Mr. (Bob) Creighton - May our prayers and deepest sympthies be with you and your families. John was enormous in life and in our lives. John made us laugh and listen. He meant the world to me. In times of difficulty; he was always there to help and talk with, give advice and give hope. John laid out a great example for us. We are very blessed to have had John in our lives.
May we be comforted by Psalm 30:5
