I was very saddened to learn of Bob's passing, I was honoured to have shared several years of fond memories with Bob while we worked together at Old Fort York. Bob was always a great friend and full of energy during and after work in our youth. As sad as I am. Bob's memory puts a small smile on my face as I recall the joy he brought to mine and others lives, I was lucky to have known such a special guy.

It was with great sadness that I heard about Bob's passing. Quickie, as most of us from Leaside called him was a great guy that always had a smile on his face and always took time from his busy day to talk to you. Although I haven't seen Quickie for some time now, my very fond memories of him will live on. He will be sadly missed by all. Rest in peace my friend!

"Blame It On Bob", a phrase Bob started many years ago at the cottage on Wollaston Lake. It all started on the pathway between our cottage and that of our friends. We were walking the pathway and someone tripped on a small stump along the way. After the slight tumble Bob piped up with "oh just Blame It On Bob". From that day forward that stump became the Blame It on Bob stump, and every other little "glitch" that happened - from falling while water skiing, to having trouble starting a bonfire - was always followed with someone saying "Blame It On Bob". It has stuck ever since, and Bob had T-Shirts made up for all of us at the cottage with a great picture of himself enjoying the cottage with the words Blame It On Bob on the T-shirt. He even thought we should run with it as a maternity clothes brand name!!! That saying, and all the memories that go with it, continues to bring many smiles to Bob's friends at the cottage. Just one of a lifetime of great memories shared with my longest and dearest friend. Here's to you and your great friendships "Little Bobby Quick".

Hey Bob,
Times I spent with you were always a laugh and good time. Thinking back, a couple of memories made me laugh.
One of which was the fly-in fishing trip with you, Peter Stewart, my brother and myself.
After almost a week of fishing, playing poker with your "nudie" cards and other related fishing activities, the three of us awoke to find you standing at the end of the dock with all your gear packed. You dressed in the last of your clean clothes waiting for the float plane to arrive and take us home.
Little did you know, we weren't to be picked up until the next day ! Needless to say the bunch of us had a good laugh over that.
That same trip you became famous for your one piece "nuke suit". May I add... you certainly cut a fashionable figure in that suit.
Bob, we had some good times together and I will always have those memories and when I think about them, they make me smile..
Thank you for that !
You will be missed

I was acquainted with Bob, as a member of the staff of the former Toronto Historical Board in the late 1970's and again some years later in his role as a property assessor. I am now in my 80's but I remember Bob as a very bright young man with a positive attitude and a great sense of humour. He will, indeed, be missed by all who knew him. Sincerely, Peter Styrmo.

"A person gets out of life what he puts in.....The friendships and ideals which are formed at Leaside will remain with each one of us as long as we live...." Bob Quick Vice President Student Council LHS'76. This was written 35 years ago expressed and felt with sincerity. I doubt that he ever faulted in that belief and treasured each friendship. Bob has passed the baton on to us, he ran his lap and now we have to carry on (we may have a few hurdles to jump!!!!) .....'cus something tells me he is at the finish line watching and cheering our every move. We met as kids in the beautiful town of Leaside, a time when friends were so easily made.
Bonds formed that would never be duplicated in the years to come.
Young and invulnerable we tackled life head on, without concern.
Each and everyday was spent together,we had fun.
We grew up, became adults and discovered how busy life could be.
We felt that it was time for us to make our mark.
Some stayed and others moved on to new places and acquaintances.
The time that we had spent so freely in the past was suddenly in short supply.
We remained friends knowing we had someone in our corner when in need.
Now we experience a new part of the journey.
We realize that making our mark was not that important after all.
Its the friends we make and the times we enjoy together that make the difference.
Bob has friends and we will continue to be friends despite his absence.
He will be missed but never forgotten as he is a part of us all

Bobby........So many memories of you and the years-gone-by have come flooding back. It seems only a short time ago we were little kids on the same baseball and hockey teams. Then high school track with you running the anchor on the 4x100 team that I occasionally got to run on! You were also an exceptional football player with the blazing breakaway speed until your fateful accident. More importantly, you were an exceptional individual with drive, determination and great spirit. You were so proud of your role with Fort York when the rest of us were just doing the high school thing. I was not surprised to hear of your bravery and strong spirit in facing your last challenge. That was the guy that I always knew and remembered. Thank you for bringing so many of those wonderful memories back.
My condolences to your family. Rest in Peace. Bob Hudson

Bob, you were always one, if not ten strides ahead of us in everything we did. Such a born athletic, but more importantly a great guy. Sadly, if not ironically, it is not surprising you are again at the front of the pack leading us into the next phase which we 1977 (35 year) grads wil need to face in due course.. It was so great to see you just over a week ago and hear how positive you were about how lucky you were. You talked of good times and great friends which is such a great Leaside thing and we are so fortunate to enjoy, but so often take for granted.
Thank you for being such a great Leaside friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We love you and will miss you!

to Dave Quick from one of your former colleagues. Dave I am sorry for your loss and that of your family. I was privileged to know Bob from Fort York in the 1970's where his energy and personality were part of the life experience of those wonderful years. Everyone was his friend. And the reunion he organised in 2003 is still a cherished memory. Will be thinking of you ... and of Bob. Sincerely John D. Ayre Toronto
