Obituary of Margaret Martin
MARTIN, Margaret (Peggy)
Passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 in her 85th year. Peggy was born July 30, 1926 in Lamaline, Newfoundland. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jean. Peggy leaves to mourn her special niece and namesake, Margaret Fleming, her husband Tom and their children (godson) Shayn (Brenda) and their children Adrien and Logan, and Tara (Billy). Also survived by her daughter Katrina Godbout, her husband Donny and grandchildren Sarah (Jeff) Munn and Jonathan (Kate) and great-granddaughter Hillary Munn. She also leaves two other godchildren, Kit Greening and Martin Byrne, and many beloved nieces and nephews, two brothers-in-law and numerous friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Peggy was a very accomplished woman. Blind since the age of seven, she attended the Halifax School for the Blind and earned her degree in Social Work at York University while in her 40's. She was a director for the CNIB and received many awards, including "The Order of Canada" and the Grace Worts Staff Service Award from the CNIB. Over the years she affected many lives through her kindness and generosity. More people than can be named were welcomed into her home and heart. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11.
