Dear Vivian, David and family, We were so sorry to hear belatedly of the news of Helga's passing. Our son Dan worked for Helga for two summers (2005/6) at Severn Boat Haven and has very good memories of that time, thanks to Helga being a kind employer and mentor. We feel that she helped to shape a good work ethic and sense of responsibility in Dan. We always enjoyed visiting with Helga at Severn Boat Haven. She was an excellent businesswoman and she will be very much missed by our family and many on Gloucester Pool. Having lost my father to cancer one year ago, I am sure that this has been a difficult time for all of you. I encourage you to stay close to your heart and to one another during this time. I think our loved ones would most want us to live each day fully as they did. Our thoughts are with you at this time.

She offered many examples of how to live life. Sorry I could not make the service as I received the news when I was out of town. My deepest sympathy for your loss Kimmy

Although we spent only 4 yrs. at Severn Boat Haven, we will never forget dear Helga. She made the marina the pleasurable place that it is. Her quiet but efficient ways kept everybody "in line" but in a loving manner. She will be sorely missed by all the boater friends she made over the years. While at Severn Boat Haven, our boat name well reflected us; i.e., "Knot Really Reddy" . Then when we were leaving for expanded adventures farther north, we remember Helga wishing us well with a hug and saying: "Now, I know you are "Really Reddy"!! Our sincere sympathies go out to her family. Rod & Mary Lou Hendren

I/we miss Helga so much. On a personal level I do not even remember the first time we met at the marina. It just seemed that she had been there forever. She was the marina - always so friendly, so proficient, so interested in the lives of others. She had that rare high honour of being widely known by only a single name, "Helga". I did not even know her last name nor did it really matter. Most who heard the name Helga knew immediately who was being referred to. In 2006, I became the Mayor of Georgian Bay Township. She sent me a congratulatory letter and was so truly happy for me, even though she was not one of my constituents. She was intensely interested in what the future held for Port Severn. She was, after all, one of its foremost citizens. As recently as two years ago we had a lengthy chat on the infrastructure development plans for the Port and the place of the marina in such forward development. I did not know her age. She just did not seem like she was nearing the end of her working life. She was still vibrant and "in charge". Then there was the unexpected news of her illness and subsequent death. The memories of this gracious lady are indelible. On behalf of myself and the citizens of Georgian Bay Township, sincere condolences to Helga's family. Jim Walden Mayor and friend

Thank you Helga for all that you did and taking a chance three years ago on us, being new boaters. You made us smile, laugh and most of all admire you for all that you did. They say you meet unique people that make a mark, and you did that, and then some. Thoughts are with your family, and each day we are at Port Severn we thank you for the good times, as well as the memories we have, and memories to come. Les, Debbie and Amanda Kalinics
