Dear Rod and Jerry, I was so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. June was such a dear person, I have such fond memories of seeing her at the parties at Billy and Ina's, her great social sense and delightful laugh. She was always impeccably turned out, a real lady, with a ready smile and kind word. You are both in my thoughts and prays. Michele xxx

Auntie June or Junie. I remember your fabulous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the best ever butter tarts, not to mention brownies and pies. The fun times at Lake Muskoka playing card games with Mel, Mary, you, and Ina and the great laughs we had. I remember your adventurous spirit to go sailing with Captain Mel. I remember when I was very little and you'd ask me to live with you, because you wanted a little girl. I remember that you could tell us what you wore on a particular special occasion - even when it was 50 years ago. How I love you and will miss your beautiful smile and gentle laugh. Love always, Cathy

Dear family members. June's photograph and her warm smile caught my eye yesterday in the Obituaries in The Globe and Mail. It immediately brought back memories of meeting her at Walter and Gwen Crown's home. At the time I was fifteen and dating their son Robert. I can vividly remember her sitting in a chair in their living-room; she smiled and greeted me warmly. Both she and Gwen made me feel welcome. I think that they realized that I was uneasy and wanted to make a good impression. Over the years I have thought of them both and remembered their kind behaviour to me. I was sorry that June's last months were plagued by ill health. As your grief recedes and as the memories of her illness fade, I hope that you will remember her warm smile and her kindness to me and others. Barbara Michel (Lawrence)

After more than 60 years of knowing June, I have many fond memories of her. Here is one, connected to Lake Muskoka. I would often drive June to Mary and Mel's cottage and after arriving we would settle in. At the appropriate hour, June almost gleefully asked when happy hour was to begin when we could sit back on the deck or the porch with snacks, she with a martini, us with our own libations, having good conversation, and some laughs often while enjoying the chipmunks scampering about the deck. One late afternoon, we were ready for deckside happy hour. June selected a lawn chair and sat down with some peanuts to entice the little wildlife. She looked around and wondered, "Where are the chippies?" "JUNE!" I yelled, "you're sitting on it!" There it was, the tail of a poor little chippie sticking out from under June's backside. Like a bolt, she jumped out of the chair and saw the poor chippie lying there. She screamed. The chipmunk was dead - squashed. Then, suddenly, after a few seconds and being a little stunned, it jumped up, leapt off the chair and was gone. We all had a good laugh than relaxed over our drinks, looking at the beautiful scenery with the chippies all alive and well (fed). We enjoyed our times together, swimming, shopping, walking to Pride's Marina for ice cream cones, and playing cards at night when June and Mel had us all continually laughing. We had such fun together. Love, Ina
