Obituary of Frederick Field
Frederick Field
Peacefully in his 89th year, at St. Michael's Hospital on December 3, 2009 after a lengthy illness. He will be lovingly remembered by sons Robert, Gordon, Edward and Douglas, and by grandchildren James, Nicole, Jessica, Rebecca, Kimberly and Jennifer. Also fondly remembered by special daughters-in-law Carol, Tracey, Janet and Geraldine. Predeceased by wife Louise and youngest son John, brothers Walter, Herbert, Harold, Roy and sisters Doris and Audrey. Fred served his country during WWII as a Navigator during two tours, based out of England and Gibraltar. He worked for 29 years as a Civil Engineer (Bituminous) with the Ontario Government, retiring in 1979. He was avidly involved in the Boy Scout movement and enjoyed summers in the Kawartha Lakes and Picton areas. Dad enjoyed the company of dogs, but was somewhat less enthused around cats. The family thanks the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Michael's Hospital for their compassion and dedication. Very special thanks to PSW Mabel Phillps for her attention to Dad's needs at home, and to Veteran's Affairs Canada for going "above and beyond." The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 4:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2009. Private cremation to follow on Thursday. A celebration of Dad's life will be held early in the New Year. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
