I remember Uncle Stan as a kind and gentle man, who always had a thoughtful comment to make as the conversations rolled across the dinner table on the occasions that our families got together. My heartfelt condolences to all of the family.

Dear Barbara and Family, We are sorry that we were not able to be with you for Stan's funeral and to tell you personally how much we valued his friendship. He and I first crossed paths when he was Assistant Deputy Minister of Transport and I was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury Board. His role was to seek more resources for his department and mine was question the justification and challenge the need. In all of our dealings then and subsequently I found him to be honest, straightforward and highly professional. When he moved to serve on the boards of directors of Marine Atlantic and Northern Transportation and I to the Crown Corporations Division of the Secretariat we had further contact that built into a friendship that continued beyond our careers. We had the pleasure of meeting you when you and Stan were married but regret that distance prevented us from seeing more of both of you. We will miss Stan with his ready smile and wealth of wisdom and offer to you and the rest of his family our sincere condolences. Gayle and Hugh Mullington Ottawa

My deepest condolences in regards to the recent death of your father. What surprised me was the fact that Fran is also no longer with us. Fran came to my house for dinner many years ago when my wife and I were living in North Vancouver. It must have been about thirty five years ago as that is the age of my daughter, who was very young at the time. I remember your family quite well when you all lived in Vancouver, I believe it was on Connaught Drive and Oak Street. I even remember Peter who was always in some heated discussion with his father. Two strong personalities I would suspect! In any event when you get a chance I would greatly appreciate it if Barb could write, and fill me in some information in regards to Fran and the rest of your family. Yours sincerely, Ralph White ralphdawn@shaw.ca

Stan and Pat Cameron welcomed Jean-Michel when he immigrated to Canada, opening their home as a place to live until he was settled. The only payment for room and board that Stan allowed was the opportunity to speak French. What a wonderful welcome to Canada, and just one example of his generous character. Through Fran, we knew Stan as a kind and clever man - a true gentleman in the truest sense of the word. Our most sincere condolences to all the family. Jean-Michel & Rosine

Peter and Lisa, Briege and I are very sorry to hear about the death of Peters father. We met Stanley a few times when he was visiting you in Burnaby/Vancouver. We found him to be a very gracious, interesting man.And in reading his obituary he was a man who had a great social conscience that he put into practice to improve our social welfare system to help others. Take care. Love Briege and Brian.
