My wife Jean and I were good friends of Doreen and Desmond in the 1970's and 1980's, but we lost touch when Jean and I separated. We'd get together regularly for good food and conversation. We were all about the same age - only 12 days separated Doreen and me, and Jean and Desmond were a little bit older. Like Desmond, Jean died in 2003. And now I'm the only one of the four left to recall the many happy times we had together. The four of us were especially compatible, I think because we had all come through the Great Depression from 1929 to 1939 followed by WWII, most of that time in Toronto, and inevitably those experiences shaped our personalities. Anyway, I have very fond memories of those times we had together and I wanted Doreen's family to know what a fine lady Doreen was. I miss both her and Desmond.
