Please accept these belated condolences on Bev's passing. Bev and I were Brownie leaders together at Fairlawn United Church, our daughters (Katie and Christine Cerullo) were brownies there. She was always calm, cheerful, full of ideas and goodwill...a real inspiration. She was a lovely lady.

Kirk and family, I am so sorry of your loss. I didn’t know your mom well, but was always greeted by her beautiful smile and genuine warmth when we would see each other at Bedford or in the neighbourhood. She just had this welcoming, comforting gift. It wasn’t long ago that Taylor and I ran into her and we both just left that moment with big smiles and expressing that to each other. Today our hearts are heavy and with you. Janet and Taylor L.

Though I never knew Bev, I instantly recognized her picture in the paper as a member of our community and a person who had influenced me greatly through a very tiny moment that occurred many years ago. I knew Bev's face from many days of delivering and picking up our children at Fairlawn Pre-school back in the early 90s. Once, shortly after our preschool days, I recognized her sitting across from me in the change room at a public swimming pool. We were both struggling to manage all of our children after a late evening swimming class -- getting them out of their wet swim clothes and into pajamas before heading home. We were both balancing babies on our laps as we helped the older ones. I was stressed and showing it. The baby on Bev's lap suddenly dropped a bottle of milk and it spilled all over the floor of the change room. What a mess! In the midst of this chaos, Bev began to laugh and laugh at how funny this seemingly stressful moment was. Of course she realized that this was NOT a serious problem in the big picture of life. I looked at her in awe -- so amazed at her wonderful way of dealing with the situation. I think of that moment SO often when I'm stressed --wishing that we could all learn a lesson from her beautiful attitude. I'm sure that this lovely, relaxed attitude of hers has influenced all of you and will continue to keep you laughing at difficult times for the rest of your lives. it certainly stuck with me.
