Dear Betty, Joanne and Luke, I am so sorry to hear of Jean's passing. I remember how welcoming she was when we stayed with you as kids. She sewed me some of the most beautiful clothes I've owned (to this day!), and made every day fun. Thank you for sharing her. Carol Armour Aronson

Dear Betty, We were sorry to learn that your Mother has died. Please accept our sincere condolences. Although we did not have the good fortune to know Jean well, her obituary makes it evident that she lived a long and fruitful life. She was a talented woman whose life was full of accomplishments and contributions. We know that you cared for her long and well. And she in turn has left you and other members of your family a legacy, her talents and character, which we have seen in you as we have known you. Unfortunately we will be unable to join with you in the celebration of her life on Saturday, but we hope and trust that, perhaps amidst some tears, it will be an occasion full of joy and gratitude. Sincerely, Jack and Shelagh Stevenson

All my memories of Aunt Jean are of sunny days and blue skies. Ever since I was a young girl I looked forward to visits with her. She was warm and gracious and welcoming. I am so glad that Emma had the chance to know her. We would sit in the sun room chatting and laughing at cat antics. She knew how to talk to young and old alike and had the ability to find and bring out the best in everyone she met. She was a true inspiration. I will always cherish the memories I have of her. Dear Betty, Luke, Joanne and Bruce, Christi, Dan, Heidi, Molly and Holly, we send our deepest sympathy. With Love, Ellen, Jonathan and Emma

Joanne and Betty I know this isn't a time for happy feelings but when I heard about your Mom the first thing that came to mind was Bert Kaempfert's "That Happy Feeling": if it wasn't written for her, it should have been. What an incredible lady - I feel lucky to have known her. Carol Chellew

I have been a friend of the Trott family for over 40 years, beginning in 1968, when I attended the University of Waterloo with Betty. During that period and since then, the Trott home has served as a "pit stop" and "home away from home" for my entire family. Regardless of your roots or needs, Jean always made guests feel welcome, treasured and loved. She will be missed. from the Daniel family (Barry, Karen, Heather, Chris, Ian)

In memory of Aunt Jean, It was family first with Aunt Jean and we all knew she was an incredible person. At family gatherings she always showed an interest in our lives and encouraged us to mingle. It was always a great opportunity to catch up with cousins and family we hadn't seen for awhile. These gatherings were highlights of the summer for us. And we all got to see her in good health and in fine spirits at our parents' 50th, not so long ago. Love, Michael and Paul

In memory of Jean Trott “Jean has such a good heart,” my mother would often say. Although my mother was two and one half years older than Aunt Jean, they had shared their high school years in the 1920’s and early ‘30’s boarding together in town, attending Bowmanville High School. They were active in amateur theatre, song and dance. According to my mother, Aunt Jean never seemed to study but still came out with flying colours. She had an irrepressible spirit and both she and Uncle Vern had an unwavering commitment to public education. I was always inspired by the content of discourse at Aunt Jean’s place, and so many times enjoyed her unstinting hospitality. Her generosity: Aunt Jean and her family would host both our 25th and 40th anniversary celebrations at her elegant home in Toronto and she came to Ottawa just last June to be present at our family’s 50th year anniversary celebration. We have many treasured family photographs of all those occasions, one of the most special for us being a picture of her with our granddaughter, Emma, taken on that occasion. Emma and her mother, Ellen, always looked forward to spring break as that meant a trip to Toronto to see Aunt Jean, Betty and the cats. Aunt Jean was at ease with everyone; at home in the world. She was one of a kind, thoroughly modern. Paul, Michael, Ellen & Jonathan and Emma, Vytas and myself treasure her memory We’ve been privileged to call her aunt and friend. We hold dear in our thoughts all of you, her family, ... Betty, Luke, Joanne and Bruce, Christi, Dan, Heidi, Molly and Holly, and send our deepest sympathy. Love from Janice and Vytas Treciokas and all our family.

For Betty and Joanne and families, I will always remember your mother's vibrant personality and style! Her love for people, of all ages, and her passion for teaching were evident in the way her eyes sparkled whenever she talked about what she was doing! She was a very special lady. I remember as a child always being fascinated by the interesting objects in Aunt Jean's house and that she seemed genuinely interested in speaking with me and in listening to what I had to say. I appreciated the 'pen pal' correspondence Aunt Jean had with Sean when he was young. She and Dylan also shared correspondence. Aunt Jean always asked about Brett and remembered to send him a birthday card. Aunt Jean was the one who kept our family close and she extended many invitations to her sisters' children and grandchildren to visit with her and share a meal. Visiting Aunt Jean always meant stimulating conversation, family stories, laughter, and delicious meals. John and I, along with Brett, Dylan, Sean, Krysha, Isla and Declan offer our deepest sympathy to Joanne, Bruce, Dan, Heidi, Molly, Holly, Christi, Betty, Luke and Louise.
