MARY JOSEPHINE "JO" MCNALLY
On Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre at the age of 85 with her three children at her side. Predeceased by Terence McNally (Terry Sr.), her beloved husband of 53 years. Loving mother of Terry (Cathlin), Brian (Diane) and Annette (Scott). Devoted grandmother to Andrew, Ryan and Matt.
Jo McNally was born in England and proudly represented Britain as a Wren during WWII. Jo met Terry Sr., the love of her life, during the war and upon her marriage she moved to Edinburgh, Scotland. In 1957, she immigrated to Toronto with her husband and young children. In addition to her responsibilities as mother and homemaker, Jo was a successful and appreciated entrepreneur in North Toronto during the '60s and '70s, first working with her husband at McNally Jewellers and then managing and operating the White Swan Gift Shop until retirement in 1982.
Jo's greatest passion in life along with her husband was ballroom dancing for which they received various awards and accolades. Upon retirement to Orillia, Jo developed a passion for golf and was a keen member of the Couchiching Golf Club.
The family is grateful for the many kindnesses and care received from the staff and Mary Jo's new friends at the Claremont Retirement Residence, Toronto during her all too short stay.
A private family service and cremation was held in Toronto on Friday, January 9, 2009. Jo will be interred with her life partner, Terry Sr., in Orillia in May 2009 followed by a celebration of her life.
