Harvey was one of my all time favourite people ..ever! He had integrity, a quality which seems not to be so valued these days. He was compassionate to the extreme, he could weave a yarn that made you laugh,. He was never critical or judgemental if you made a bad decision for which he picked up the pieces. He was one of a kind! And of course, he was a fine doctor. If he didn't know the answer, he found someone who did. I presented with some Interesting tropical ailments over the years and he loved the challenge. To say nothing of the number of hours he would listen, understanding when that was what was needed. I often waited for an appt for a long long time but knew that in his office he was doing for another what he had so often done for me. When Harvey retired I was really blue for months! In fact I recall skipping a parent teacher night to go to his retirement party where we all chipped in for th lazy boy. From the time of his retirement, I always sent a Christmas card. In the beginning he replied by email, but in later years I did not receive acknowledgement. I even thought maybe not to send him my latest missive but in my heart knew he loved to hear of my travelling adventures and I never missed a year. I feel fortunate to have connected with such a fine human being in my lifetime. Harvies message was one of tolerance, compassion, love of music, generosity, integrity, kindness, and respect. His life was his message! My sincerest sympathy to all of Harvies wonderful family who he loved hugely. Virginia

What a gift Harvie Brooks was to me and my family, as my physician but also my friend. I loved his sense of humour and have missed his gentle care since he retired. I am so sorry to hear of this loss. I was just telling a lovely story about Dr. Brooks on Sunday morning not knowing that he was gone. I send condolences and blessings from the West Coast where we are currently travelling.

Dr. Brooks was an EXTRAORDINARY Doctor to my entire family which includes six children. When I called my eldest son to share the news, I had just read; his comment was "Mommy, you remember how he came to the house in a snowstorm when most of us had chickenpox?" He became our Doctor a short while after arriving to this new country. He advised us about quality day care, schools and even where to look in my job search. I could write much more but I will close by saying "May his soul rest in peace" and to his family "remember the happy memories as you mourn your loss. The Cole Family - Mississauga

To all of Harvie's family, Harvie's love of music that he devoted so much time to in addition to everything else in his life was inspiring to me. It was always a thrill to discuss music with him and to witness him enjoying imparting this passion to the rest of all of you. one thing that is often said about music is that it is the language of the Angels. I am certain that Harvie learned this language very well in his years spent with us here on Earth. His will surely be a simple passage to a peaceful realm where he will already speak the language quite well and go on to entertain others with his affable wit and charm. I am very sorry for the loss to you, his family. He will be missed by so many. May we all be so fortunate to have touched so many lives when it is our turn to journey forward from our lives here. Sincerely, Patrick Jang

Dr. Brooks was our family doctor from the time (1960) my family moved to Toronto. I stayed with him through until his retirement. Both my children were delivered by Harvie and now they have their own. Not only was he a wonderful doctor but he was the best listener. I admired Harvie very much. My condolences to all his family..

It is with great sadness that I write this message to the Brooks family. Harvie has been a fixture at Black Lake for so long, it will be hard to drive in and around the bend without thinking about him and his famous tomato gazpacho that he always brought to the ad hoc dinners at the Tucker's. My heart goes out to you. He will be remembered by all of us.

Cathy, Wendy, Heather and Barb, I am so sorry to hear of Harv's passing. All of you were such an important and integral part of my upbringing, from TEMC to Black Lake. There isn't a summer that goes by that I don't remember with great love the 8 track player playing John Denver on the dock, learning how to water ski (and fall with skill), and motoring out to the store. TEMC would not have been the same without all of you. Singing in the choir, laughing in the balcony (ahem, Wendy!) or just being around with all of you constantly. Your dad was a great part of all of that, and our family friendship was strong and deep on all levels. I miss all of you and am so sorry for your loss. Harv taught all of us a lot, and was a driving force in our lives. I will forever hold him, and all of you in my hearts. With deep love and my great sympathy, Peggy xx
