Obituary of Douglas Patterson

DOUGLAS E. PATTERSON Douglas E. Patterson, age 94, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 25th. Adoring husband of the late Dorothy (2007), his beloved soul mate for over 66 years. He was the loving father of John (Valerie) and Susan (Mark) and devoted grandfather of Sarah (Saskatoon) and Keira (Toronto). Quiet dignity and respect for all were his hallmarks and inspired life-long devotion from family, friends and colleagues. He was very proud of all his family, parents Sarah Myrtle and John Richard Elbert Patterson, brother the late Pilot Officer John R. Patterson, RCAF (1944), sisters-in-law the late Margaret (Jack) Balchin and the late Ruth Decosse, brother-in-law the late John (Mary) Ensor and several nieces and nephews. A resident of Ottawa most of his life, he retired from the Department of Insurance as Director of Property and Casualty Division, and was a long-time golfing and curling member of the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club and later the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club.
