Obituary of Elizabeth Careless
CARELESS, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Careless, 94, of Toronto; died peacefully on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at her home. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elizabeth was born to an established Toronto family. Her passions were modern art and architecture; music and dance; saving heritage homes in Toronto's developer-embattled Yorkville district, and singers Frank Sinatra and Lena Horne. Married to Canadian historian JMS Careless, Elizabeth was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Despite being dogged by a number of health challenges throughout her life, she pushed through and, to paraphrase Winston Churchill, never gave up.
The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3rd. Interment will take place afterwards at PROSPECT CEMETERY, 1450 St. Clair Avenue West, Toronto. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
