Obituary of Isobel Waugh

Isobel Ruth WAUGH (née Allan) On Monday, October 26, 2015, our mother, Isobel Ruth Waugh, left this world with grace and dignity, as she had lived. She was born April 7, 1923 to much loved parents Annie and Leslie Allan. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 69 years William Bruce Waugh, resident at Veteran's Wing, Sunnybrook Hospital. She is lovingly remembered by her children Bruce (Nicki), Marilyn (Douglas) and Gordon (Lisa); her grandchildren Jennifer (Elska), Tracy (Paul), Sandy, Geoffrey (Alexandra), Andrew and Claire; and her cherished great-grandchildren Samantha, Natasha and Peter. She was predeceased by her brother William Norman Allan. Isobel was born and lived most of her life in Toronto and from there she and Bill travelled the world. She was a graduate of the University of Toronto and worked as a journalist. She experienced much sense of fulfillment during her many years of volunteer service with CNIB, brailling books and teaching braille and was awarded the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship for this work. She was a natural leader in her numerous community involvements, including St Clement's Church. Her many circles of friends loved her for her warmth, kindness, intelligence, genuine laugh and wonderful sense of fun. With her humour and love, she was the heart of our family. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3rd followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. If desired, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CNIB at cnib.ca.
