Obituary of June Barron

JUNE LEONE BARRON (nee Clarke) Peacefully at home surrounded by family on Friday, August 21, 2015 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Robert Barron. Loving aunt of Bill Davidson (Rita), Jeff Davidson (Rose) and Kimberly (Peter) Allen. Predeceased by her siblings Helen and Lloyd Clarke and Eve Davidson, as well as her first husband Orville Meloche. Fondly remembered by many great nieces and nephews. Born in Cabri, Saskatchewan to Fred and Maitland Clarke, June graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Dietary Science. She moved east to pursue her career, working in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto at various hospitals. June served in the Armed Forces and earned the rank of Major. June was active in a leadership role with the Nursing Sisters and enjoyed her association with the Royal Canadian Military Institute. After June's retirement from the Military, she held a number of civilian positions in the dietary field. June was an avid traveller, accomplished cook and the consummate hostess. She especially loved her many years at her cottage on Snake Island in Lake Simcoe. June was vibrant, fun loving and full of life. Even through her struggles with Alzheimer's she maintained an incredible outlook and marvelous sense of humor. She will be missed by all who knew her. A special thank you to June's caregivers; Arabella, Pat, Cathy, Lois, Alesia, and Dora. This team provided around the clock love and care, which allowed June to fulfill her wish of remaining in her home. A memorial service will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (South of Davisville Avenue) on Tuesday, August 25th at 10:30 am. If desired, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
