My memories of Richard are ones filled with light and joy. It was always wonderful to bump into him when he was picking the boys up from school or when he came to some kind of school outing. There was always a smile on his face and warmth in his heart, and probably a little story to tell: plans he had with the boys or with Caitlin, or maybe something from his travels. He seemed open to anything, always soaking up what he could, whether it was a play at Stratford, a spiritual experience with Eckhart Tolle, a silent retreat in Japan or a ski trip out West. Wherever he had just come back from, he always had positive things to say, his voice soft and dancing over the words. He had a strength and a playfulness all at the same time. He was a beautiful human being, and his gifts and influence will continue to echo for many, many years to come. I am honoured that I knew him for this time. His joy, love, humour, warmth, openness and gratitude were nothing short of inspiring.
