Dear Lee, Kim and Jay:
I have just read in The Globe of your dad's passing. Pete and I have been away for several weeks. We are sorry to hear this news.
My memories of your parents go back a very long time. I lived in Highgate with my mum, Betty Gosnell McAskile, during WWII. Joan was often my babysitter.
We loved seeing Gord and Joan and were so happy every year to get the updates on the Ashton/Davidson family.
Like Joan I was a Pi Phi at Western and my husband, Pete, was a DU there. I taught high school for some years at South.
I am often at the Gosnell Cemetary and have taken my grown kids there recently. Both sets of my grandparents are there as well as many others. If you are from Highgate there is no such thing as a family tree...it is much more like a family wreath! I always stop to say a little thank you to your mum. Now I will say a little prayer for them both.
I would love to keep in touch. My email is libbyfowler1200@gmail.com.
Love,
Libby McAskile Fowler

Gord was a great neighbour. A real character who was always happy to lend a hand and enjoyed a good chat about the goings-on in the neighbourhood. We appreciated his good humour, excellent story-telling and of course, his love of all things jazz. He was so very proud of all his family and we know that he will be greatly missed.

To Gord's Family: We enjoyed Gord and Joan' s company on many occasions both during the Oshawa Hawks basketball years and after. They taught us to play bridge, which we do at duplicate clubs three times a week! Please accept our condolences for your loss. Barney and Dorothy Oldfield

You would like this: Gord was running for student council. He usurped the slogan of Modess-a ladys sanitary pad ' Davidson Because' Everyone was aghast He Won- So There! It was so effective that I remember it 65 yrs later Bet he left a good family, and a bunch of good memories Dr. Brian Thicke Meds ,56--still in active practice

My deepest sympathies for the loss of your father. I only had the pleasure of meeting him once, at the big 25th anniversary celebration, but I remember him well. He had such a warm personality and a great sense of humour. My thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.

To Kim and family, My sincere condolences to you on the passing of your beloved dad. For the almost twenty years that I have known Gord, he has not failed to make me laugh,or at least chuckled. Yes, I too will miss his jokes and his continued warning to make sure I watch over the finances of the company with diligence or else. I pray you may always be comforted and strengthen by a sense of His nearness to you and your memory of his love for you.
