Obituary of Lois Callander

LOIS ISABELLE CALLANDER (nee Wray) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Lois Isabelle Callander who passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 22, 2015. Her last day was spent doing what she loved; playing bridge, having lunch with friends and planning the next bridge event. Wife of the late William Keith Callander, Lois is survived by her daughter Barbara Callander and her husband David Bridges, sisters and brothers-in-law Robert and Leila Olson, Bill and Helen Hans and Muriel Baxter. Born in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Lois was a life time educator and musician. She was a force in the Flin Flon, Manitoba school system, the Glee Club and founding member of the Generation Gap. She and Keith moved to Toronto in the 1970's where she continued to teach, touching so many with her love of music. She was an avid curler, golfer, bridge player and an active member of the Donalda Club for many years. Her energy and zest for life will be missed by friends and family alike. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Donalda Club in Toronto. The family would like to thank the medical staff at the Family Care Practice at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. If desired, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Parkinson's Society Canada in her memory.
