Obituary of Glenda Ellen McDonald
GLENDA ELLEN McDONALD
On Monday, May 25, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer, Glenda passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Glenda is predeceased by her parents, Garfield and Anna McDonald (nee Masterson). She is survived by three siblings: Debbie, Gerard (Norma), and Jerome (Sonia), and her beloved nieces and nephews: Alexandra, Kieran, Anna, Maggie, Michaela, Riley, Ben and Bella. Glenda had a long and celebrated career as a Social Worker (MSW). She held numerous social work positions including Director of Social Work at several Hospitals. She went on to become the founding registrar at the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, a position she held for the past 15 years. She will be dearly missed by her many friends, family and colleagues. Visitation will be held at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29 and at the MUNRO and MORRIS FUNERAL HOMES LIMITED (114 Main Street South, Alexandria) from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 1. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at ST. FINNAN'S CATHEDRAL in Alexandria at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 1. Interment will follow in the Notre Dame Cemetery in Ottawa with a reception afterwards. As expressions of sympathy, Glenda has asked that memorial donations be made to either Autism Ontario or Covenant House Toronto.
