Obituary of Lucas Peel

LUCAS BROCK PEEL Lucas passed away peacefully at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Toronto General Hospital, surrounded by friends, family and love. Dear Lucas: Be calm. You are loved. No more hurt now; just love. Yours was a life lived to the fullest, and at only 25 you had achieved all your dreams. Along your journey you inspired countless people who are now left only with the beauty you showed them. You showed us grace under every circumstance. You made us all want to be better. You have always been surrounded by love, as that is what you gave to the world. You were generous, respectful, talented, industrious, helpful, cheerful, tenacious . . . a gentleman. You were a man of real character. Every life you touched is better for your being part of it. Every person has a unique memory of you, be it a story of your humour, kindness, coaching, or your incredible bravery, there is one constant theme: love. You showed us true love in its every definition. Our tears and smiles now are our way to show our love for you. Lucas recently celebrated his marriage to the great love of his life, Stephanie Grand. Deeply loved son of Kenneth and Katherine Peel and big brother to John. Lucas was the son-in-law of Richard and Karen Grand. Much loved grandson of Ron and Margaret Peel (White Rock, B.C.); the late Jim and the late Anna Rowcliffe (London, Ont.); and Stephanie's grandparents Jack and Mollie Boyd (Ottawa, Ont.). He meant the world to all who knew him, and we are all inspired to love as he did. Thank you to all those who cared for him, too numerous to name all, but especially Dr. Michael Crump, Dr. Susan Brunt, and Dr. Mary Gospodarowicz. Tributes in his memory could be made to The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation for Lymphoma Research, http://pmhf3.akaraisin.com/Lucas, or a charity of your choice. A celebration of Lucas' life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7 in the chapel of ROYAL ST. GEORGE'S COLLEGE, 120 Howland Avenue, with a reception to follow.
