Aldred & Erna Neufeldt posted a condolence

Erna and I enjoyed getting to know Bill at TUMC, later joined by Wm Jr. Bill was a gentleman and a scholar. He was very interested in getting insight into what it meant to be Mennonite, and how that was similar to his Quaker background. We agreed that we were cousins. Our last good visit was while he was still at home. Our condolences to William and Mina, and the rest of the family who we do not know. You father left lasting memories with us. Aldred Neufeldt

I enjoyed meeting Bill Sr (and then Bill Jr) at TUMC. I was always impressed with his commitment to get to services even when his physical body made that challenging. May your hearts find peace following this great loss in your family.

It was an honour to work with Bill. He was a great mentor and a generous friend. His example influences me to this day. Sincerest condolences to John, the Allen Family and Eileen.

May the light and love that was in Bill continue to shine in his loved ones - sometimes flickering; sometimes burning brightly - but always there. My condolences to the family.

I have known Bill for well over 35 years and had the honour of having him serve on the boards of several of my public companies for much of that time. When our first venture went public in the mid 1990's he and two other associates joined me for a week-end of 'brain storming' at our cabin near Algonquin Park. Back then it was not much to brag out - really just a shack in the wilderness. Bill, however, appeared to be really enjoying himself and told many stories about summers, in Temagami, I believe. He had a one liner that I really would like to share - "I really like cottages David, particularly when they are somebody else's".
Bill was very loyal and could always come up with unique solutions to securities law problems. It was a pleasure to have known and worked with him. I wont be able to be in Toronto on Thursday but will think about Bill. We have retired to that property and now have a permanent home here.

Bill was an excellent lawyer, who not only knew his law, but also knew how to deal with clients in a relaxed and pro-active manner which made each client feel as if that client were the only client with whom Bill was then dealing! He was also a gentle person much loved by his family and friends. He will be missed. Marsha Onyett

I am so sorry to hear of Bill's death. He was a wonderful mentor to me. He offered to let me share office space with him and John and Gaylanne Phelan and I had the great privelige of working with him for three years, early in my career. He was a very fine lawyer and taught me alot. He was always generous with his considerable expertise. Few young lawyers have the opportunity to work with someone of his calibre and I am so grateful he gave me that opportunity. He will be greatly missed. I send my deepest sympathies to his whole family. Sincerely, Sheila Crummey
