RAY, Janet Marian April 25, 1941 - March 25, 2015After a heroic and determined fight against cancer, Janet passed away peacefully at Bridgepoint Hospital. Janet, daughter of Frederick and Fanny Ray of Dryden, Ontario, is survived by her beloved husband Jeremy Richardson of Toronto, and by her sisters Lynne and Norma, brother Brian, her nieces Allyson, Marla, Erin, her nephew Jeffrey, and their respective families in whom she took a steady and continued interest throughout her life.Janet, a graduate of Huron College at the University of Western Ontario, had a distinguished career with the Toronto Board of Education as teacher, librarian, Vice Principal, Principal of Jarvis Collegiate Institute and as a Senior Superintendent of the Toronto Board of Education until her retirement in 1998. Janet was the author of two books on the history of women in the Province of Ontario and throughout her career played a significant role in supporting and enhancing the role of women in leadership in education. Janet will be sorely missed by her many colleagues and friends.Services for Janet are private and she requested no flowers. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, The Sunnybrook Odette Cancer Centre or a charity of choice will be greatly appreciated by her family.
