Thinking of you all at this time. You have not been far from our thoughts over the past year. I was in my car today listening to the radio and Elton John was belting out Saturday Night and the first thing that came to my mind was a rare girls night out that Maureen and I had years ago at the ACC. As he sang on stage, I looked over at her and she was singing proud and strong with this incredible smile. We had a great time and I will forever feel grateful for having Maureen's friendship. She is missed dearly. xo

Maureen and I worked together at Hill and Knowlton many years ago. No one worked harder and cared more than Maureen. 25 years later --it is hard for me to think of a kinder person that I ever worked with. Always quick to bake a cake or deliver a hand made card for a co worker who was down, Maureen was made with pure love. I have never stopped thinking of her all these years later. My condolences to Ken, her children and all who were touched by her loving heart.

We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Maureen's passing. Maureen was a kind, caring soul. In the early 80s, she lived with my family while working as a summer camp counsellor at the Hermitage Club in Magog Quebec. I often think of us sitting around our kitchen table, listening to The Steve Miller Band, laughing hysterically with our sun-burnt faces.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences.

I only learnt last night about Maureen passing away recently. I'm so very saddened by the news. I grew up in Montreal and remember her well as a teenager who was often at our house and cottage since she went to Sacred Heart with my sister Suzy. She was always happy and smiling. I'm convinced there wasn't a mean bone in her body. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

I loved that Maureen was always so interested in the Rourke heritage, the Irish customs and all things green!! She enjoyed hearing stories from our Gran & Grandfather and our Aunts & Uncles about their childhood and all the relationships. She had a passion for the 'family tree' and how cousins were related: "oh, you are a first cousin once removed, twice removed, second cousin once removed on the maternal side..." etc. This was like an art form for Maureen. She was always ready to support. Never wanting the limelight but quick to be in the kitchen, help out with games, open her cottage to relatives and always paid special attention to the kids at the reunions.
I had the privilige of visiting with Maureen in the hospital last December. We shared an Earl Grey Steamer and some gingerbread cookies over some really amazing, deep, heartfelt conversations about life, brokenness, heartache, hope, our kids, and the mighty Rourke's. It was beautiful. Maureen taught me about perseverence that day. A few days later the largest bouquet of flowers arrived at my door with a little note from Maureen telling me how much she enjoyed our heart to heart. I hope you are surrounded with glorious flowers, peace and joy forevermore, Irish Warrior Princess.
Love,
Stephanie xo

Maureen was a gem. Jason and I had the great privilege of working with Maureen at IBM early on in our careers and we'll remember her integrity, compassion and kindness. She was one of the people we'd always rely on for her creativity and many times when we'd have to 'think up something great' she was at the table with the best ideas. A true mom, she'd also bring the candy for brain food. We will miss her. Condolences to her family. Tory, Jason and Kate.
