I met Stew shortly after he came to Canada from New Zeland.
We met at The Toronto Juinor Board of Trade in 1971.
I was invited to his wedding on a very hot and
humid day in the country.
Stewart was my Secretary Trearsuer of two portfiolos
in The Toronto Juinor Board of Trade.
Stewart was my assistant campaign manager when I ran
for Chariman.
We would hold meetings at 6:00 a.m.at Bramela on
Yonge Street.
I was aware of Fiona's medical issues shortly after she was born.
Stewart was a GIANT of a man and totally trustworthy
and reliable.....no matter how busy he was........and he WAS busy.

My thoughts are with Stewart's family at this time of sorrow. I was privileged to have met Stewart and worked with him on several projects at Commercial Alcohols / Greenfields. Stewart was the consumate professional in all of our endeavours and , at the same time , a very pleasant man to work with and enjoy his company. we occasionally would run into each other on the street ( the last time was in the parking lot of the North York Medical Centre) and would end up getting caught up in a very pleasant conversation It was a privilege for me to have known him God Bless Dave Smith

Fiona - it was with great sadness that we heard of Stewarts passing a few days ago, and then today we hear that Susan has also passed away. This must be an awful time for you and we are all thinking of you here in New Zealand. I have great memories of visiting you in Toronto all those years ago. You Stewart and Susan showed me great hospitality, spending lot of time taking me to many places which I have never forgotten. My parents Margaret and David Bunn also received the same great hospitality when they visited Toronto. Please be strong and know that here in New Zealand we are thinking of you. Phillip Bunn

I was stunned and sadden to hear of Stewart’s passing. Stewart was a true gentleman, an intelligent and warm person who made working and engaging with him a great pleasure. He was “old school” in the best of meaning of the term, he was gracious, kind and a great story teller. He will be greatly missed. My sincerest condolences to Susan and Fiona

Susan Stewart was my very favourite client when he was at Bramalea and I worked for George Christoff. He was so patient with George's methods and my inexperience as a very junior architect. Working on the design of your house was so wonderful because of the two of you that I could never imagine doing residential design for anyone else. I saw him many times over the years and he was always so genuine and generous. He was incredibly proud of you and Fiona and it never failed to amaze me at how positive he was about life and it's often challenging circumstances. I am so very sorry for your loss. Lynne

Dear Susan and Fiona, We were very saddened to hear of Stewart's passing. He was a tremendous man and had a significant influence on our lives. Without him we never would have spent 8 great years in Toronto and met so many fabulous people who have remained friends for all these years. We will always remember the love he had for you both and the strength that he gained from your love. Cherish the times you had together and the memories you have. He will always be in our hearts. SDD was my first boss when I began my articles with Barr Burgess & Stewart (now PwC) in 1969 in Dunedin, New Zealand. In 1972 I followed Stewart overseas and eventually to Toronto where he showed his typical kindness in ensuring I was assigned to the best audit clients (including Bramalea). I consider Stewart the most competent and empathetic manager I have worked with. Susan and Fiona, so sorry for your loss.

I was very sadden this morning to read of Stewart passing. I met Stewart in 1970 in The Toronto Juinor Board of Trade/Toronto Jaycees. He transferred in to our club from New Zealand . We became instance friends and I still remember his marriage to Susan in 102 degree heat in the church.........it sealed the deal! We interacted during our membership as he sat a few committees for me. He was my co-campaign manager when I ran for President. We had campaign meetings at 6:00 a.m. !...... at Bramelea's office on Yonge Street where Stewart was Vice-President of Finance. Stewart ALWAYS had the coffee ready. When my mother-in-law bought a condo in Bramelea's building, Stewart arranged for her to see the unit before it was complete. I was engaged with Easter Seals for Stewart fulfilling a number of tasks. Over the years we lost touch. My sincere condolences to Susan and Fiona. Your Husband and Dad was an exceptional human being.....which I am sure you know. Stewart was a guiding light to my business career as he acted like a beacon for me , without him knowing. The world is a much better place thanks to Stewart. God speed and God bless !
