Iris was one of the finest ladies I knew--a refined, gracious woman whom I always experienced as friendly and welcoming. I'll always remember the welcome party she and Walter hosted for those of us who were "new on the block" in the summer of 1966 in our 7-house section of Brentcliffe Road. My parents and "The Gibsons" went on at least one trip together (Jamaica--1972?). My Mom and Iris were particular friends; for years, they and Eleanor Jones had seasons' tickets to Mirvish Productions and enjoyed a monthly night "out on the town" together! After Mom moved to Waterloo, she and Iris stayed in touch. After marrying and moving to K-W, I often stopped by to visit Iris--as her door was often open or she was sitting on her porch. She would fill me in on her travels, and her face would light up as she shared news about Wayne's or Bev's families or of her family members in Montreal. Iris always kept a beautiful home, and she would often invite me inside as we visited. Even as she aged, her continuously sharp mind and active endeavours amazed me. Iris certainly exemplified a life well-lived. She will be greatly missed. Thank you, Bev and Wayne, for taking such good care of your Mom. She loved you and your children SO much and was so very proud of each one of you. Your hearts must be very heavy at this time. May you be comforted by wonderful memories that you undoubtedly cherish and by the fact that she touched lives very deeply (even that of this neighbour girl growing up on Brentcliffe!). God bless and strengthen you in the coming days. You will be very much in my thoughts.
With sincerity--and gratefulness for your Mom's life, Janice Bennett

Hello to the Family of Mrs. Gibson. I am sending you all my deepest condolences at the passing of Mrs. "G" as she was fondly known as in my family. As a young boy, I grew up with her as an ever-present member of the Clifford and Laurie Architect firm. She was always the first person I would see, and she greeted me with her gentle smile and such a soft "hello Neil, how are you today." I remember her with fondness, and I recall, on more than one occasion, my father, Michael, saying that "I don't know how we would make this work without our Mrs. G"., referring to the fact that my dad was self-admittedly useless with math, and other administrative things that came so naturally to Mrs. G... She was very much counted on by my father, and was unwavering in her dedication to the firm. Im sure she had a wonderful life outside of working for my father, but this is the context to which I was privileged to know her. With respect, Neil Clifford
