Dear Lolly, Your mother has been on my mind so many times in the last few years that we haven't been in touch. I have been trying but to no avail until today when I went on the internet and found her obituary. She was such a kind, caring and thoughtful person and we shared the loss of children in the same way. She always gave me hope in the future in her words and cards she sent to me. We worked together at Yorkhill P.S. when she volunteered in Pat's class. She always spoke highly of you and your children and you had such a wonderful mother. I will always remember her and wish that we had connected these past years. I had moved to Whitby from Thornhill. The last time we spoke..she was visiting her sister in Ottawa for a month? Over the past six months I have had the opportunity to spend several hours with Elva most weeks. We would read stories from the Bible and even though her eyes would often close and she would appear to be asleep she would suddenly make a comment about what was being read that let me know she was taking in and understanding it. When someone sang a hymn she would indicate the ones she knew by keeping time with the melody. It was a pleasure to experience her sense of humour and gentle spirit. I rejoice to know that for her to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Elva, The challenges are finished. You are home.
