Obituary of Gwendolyn Munro
Gwendolyn Margaret Munro ( nee Laurie )
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful Mother, Gwen Munro in her 87th year on November 4th. Mother had been residing at Briton House for the past 5 years. Gwen was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Robert Munro in 1989. She was the eldest daughter of Doug and Nettie Laurie and was also predeceased by her younger sister and best friend, Pat (nee Laurie) Brown. Gwen leaves behind her four children, Bob (Debbie), Laurie (Patti), Cathy and Kelly (Ken) and six grandchildren who will all miss her dearly.
Speaking of grandkids, Mom's "calls them as she sees them" style contrasted vividly with their generationally ingrained political correctness, which made for very lively dinner conversations. Gwen was a good old fashioned, professional Mother who had more than a full time job running a household of six, pinch hitting as required for her husband who travelled the country as a broadcast sales executive. While this occupation is no longer in vogue in certain circles, we can assure you it was very noble work. Dad may have been CEO of the household but there was no question as to who was the Chairman!
The Munro family would also like to acknowledge and thank the Rutka family who were exceptional friends and supportive neighbours to Gwen for 50 years.
Mom, we will miss you and love you more than you can know. Thank you for everything!
A private ceremony will be followed by interment at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, consistent with Mom's wishes. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
