Theodore Arnold Bayley , MD, FRCPC
April 10, 1927- October 9, 2014
Peacefully at home with family after a long illness, tended by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Jean Margaret (nee Hunter), and surrounded by his children. Arnold Bayley, dedicated physician, scholar, Associate Professor (University of Toronto), sportsman and man of faith, came to Canada from Guyana in 1949 to study medicine at the University of Toronto. He embraced his new home, learning to curl, skate, ski and sail. During his over 50 years of medicine, he practiced internal medicine, endocrinology and nuclear medicine, and co-founded the Nuclear Medicine lab at St. Joseph's Health Centre, Toronto. Devoted father of Mark (Suzanne), Nicholas (Diane), Andrew (Fung), Chris (Mary), Anna (Larry) and Paul. Road hockey - playing grandfather of Spencer, Meghan, and Callum; Peter, Mathew, Carolyn and Rachel; Adam and Michael; and Christopher. Proud big brother of Gerard (Doreen) and Rene (Anita). Loving brother-in-law to Jack Murphy of Toronto; and Peg Hunter, and Carolyn and Dick Taylor of Guernsey, and the late Pat Murphy, Sybil Bayley and Alan Hunter. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, colleagues and friends. Thanks to his caregiver Maksim Barolli, care coordinator Clare Belton (CCAC), the House Calls team and Dr. Rolando Del Pozo, Dr. Christa Sinclair-Mills and Dr. Sandra Black for their wonderful care. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) from 2:00 - 4:30 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 16.
