I have worked at SMH forever it seems and am an old Neuro nurse . I worked with Julie in the early years before moving on to the Recovery Room , but when our paths crossed Julie always remembered me with some light banter and of course her infectious grin . She always said hello ...always . Now reading all of these personal messages it is no surprise to learn of her caring and compassionate nature , and I was terribly saddened to learn of her untimely passing . My heartfelt condolences to her family , friends and colleagues .

I have known Julie for many years at SMH. We worked on a couple of projects together and though we worked in different ICU's (myself in CV ICU)we always stayed in touch. She was always so much fun to work with and always brought a smile and laughter to every time we would connect. To Julie's family I send my thoughts, love and prayers. I'm sitting in my office trying to hold back the tears. This is shocking to us all. My heart aches...Julie was a part of our family, our nursing family and our neurosurgical family. Although I didn't know Julie for very long, I have had the privilge of working closely with her for a few years on our Neuro Symposium. Julie is one of those people you never forget. I last worked with her at St. mikes over 10 years ago and I have fond memories of her. She had such a wonderful laugh and spirit. Julie...Jules... Meeker!
What do I write about a girl I met in high school, at NSS, and will have forever memories of our times together. Along with Chemi, Tracey, myself and the rest of our little gang...football girls....I remember you and I smile. The four of us at times, were inseparable. I remember YOU always being the happy one, the girl cracking jokes....making us all feel we need to laugh, at life and not always take it so seriously. I was so proud of what you had accomplished after high school too, what a career!
I remember you and I camping outside for the night at Massey Hall in Toronto, for front row Bryan Adams tix, way back in 1984....and we got them! I remember our get togethers, our parties and car rides to visit Lucinda in Kitchener.....what fantastic times and memories I have of you my friend, of us all. While I did not get to your wedding and did not have the pleasure of meeting your husband and two beautiful kids, I did get yearly Christmas cards and email updates throughout the year. I hope to scan more pictures and will send them to Graham & Lauren in hopes they will enjoy seeing you at the age they are at now?
I will miss you my friend...thank YOU for touching MY life so generously and with such happiness, laughter and care. You won't be forgotten. I will raise a glass this weekend, hoping you will be watching and smile.

My memories of Julie have been quite overwhelming this past week - memories i had long forgotten but now remember with an abundance of both smiles and tears...your heartbreak is unimagineable to me and i feel for you all...there are so very many memories of laughter when with Julie, childhood summers at the beach, Julie in her bathing cap sitting on the shores of Georgian Bay, playing with clackers in Baba and Gigi's basement at Christmas, not to mention her rich sense of humour as she matured....my thoughts of Julie have always been and will always be, with her laughing and smiling.
