Obituary of John Heldman

JOHN HERMANN HELDMAN Passed away peacefully surrounded by his adoring family at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of Elsa for over 59 years. Much loved and devoted father to Theo and his wife Sandra. Cherished and loving grandfather of Madeline, Benjamin, Joshua and Matthew. John will be greatly missed, and will always be remembered as a kind and gentle man by his family and friends. Growing up in Germany, John believed in hard work, and never let a challenge slow him down. He was trained as an electrical engineer and spent his career at Ford Electronics Manufacturing Corporation. In retirement, John really enjoyed his time gardening and relaxing at the cottage. He was very proud of his son and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. You will be missed Opa! Thanks to the members of the palliative care team at Sunnybrook Hospital for their compassionate care. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will take place on Thursday, September 4th at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES - NEWBIGGING CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) Toronto at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow.
