Hi Ian and Lisa - I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad. He certainly seems like a guy we'd all like to know, lovable and unique and wanting to do it all. Thinking over your very best times with him will keep him close to your heart. But I know it's hard. Take good care.

My friend Joe;
Rest in peace; You deserve it. Joe and I go back a long way. It was in the 60s that joe and i got together. He persuaded me to run for Union office. My tenure was about 30 years. With Joe helping me and I helping him. Our friendship also was ongoing outside of working hours. I remember the first time we went fishing and I asked him where was his tackle? He had it in a cigarett box. Said why should he buy when I had all that was needed. Great times we had.
On Union business we shared accomadations. He would bring along his harmonicas and boy did he have a collection. Tiny tiny ones and monsters. Worth a lot of money. Joe was wanabe carver. But a very good artistic painter. We both donated carings and paintings to some of top guys an gals in our Union.
We organized the annual dinner dances together up untill a couple of years ago when his legs started to give out.He strugled for a long time with other health issues. His wife Helen is an angel. She looked after him every day while he was sick.
As Chairman of the Retiree Chapter he kept order of the meetings and yes he was opinionated at times. But a lot of info that he shared with the members. He will be missed by the members and I will miss him as my best friend.

My condolences to Joe's family. Yes Joe was indeed opinionated and bossy. Annoying is another word that comes to mind, especially when you took his forklift safety course and he would demand that you pick up a penny with the forks off the ground. After many attempts and failures, Joe would delight in showing you how it was done. Overall Joe commanded respect and found him to be a likeable and jovial man. RIP my friend!

I worked at Scarborough Van for 25 years and he was one of the best and fairest Reps. there. He called a spade a spade. I'll miss him at the Annual Retirees Dinner Dance. Al Robb.
