Obituary of Beverly Roe
ROE, Beverly Grace (nee Watt)
With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Beverly Grace Roe on July 12, 2014 at North York General Hospital in her 90th year. Born on December 3, 1924, Beverly was the daughter of the late Edward and Parenthenia Watt of South River and the cherished wife of the late Thomas Frederick Roe (1995) of Don Mills. Dearest mother to Richard of Don Mills; Randall (Maureen) of Brampton; Mark of Burlington; and Christopher (Imogen) of Montreal. Beloved grandmother to Douglas; Gregory; Robert; Katy; Bailey; Samuel; and Jacob. Sister of the late Grenville (Olive) of Orillia; the late Vera (Claude) Wood of Capreol; and the late Rhoda (Gordon) Wattie of South River. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. After growing up in South River where she proudly learned to be a strong swimmer, Beverly moved to Toronto where she trained and worked as a blood laboratory technician at St. Michael's Hospital. In Toronto she met her soul mate Tom and they married in 1948. They raised four sons in Don Mills where Tom owned the Shopper's Drug Mart at the Don Mills Shopping Centre for many years. Beverly loved her garden, was a great cook and an avid duplicate bridge player and tennis player as a long time member of the Donalda Club. For many years, she was active in the Donway United Church community. Beverly and Tom downhill skied in the winters and spent many enjoyable summers boating on Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME A.W. MILES CHAPEL LIMITED, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Davisville Avenue) on Friday, July 18, 2014 for a service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with interment to follow at York Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beverly's memory to the North York General Hospital Foundation, 4001 Leslie Street, North York M2K 1E1. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
