Dear Alan and Cynthia, Agnes and I are thinking of you both, especially today. It is difficult to accept the fact that it is already a year since Carol’s sudden and untimely passing. Our great sadness is tempered by those wonderful memories we all share of this truly great lady who was so kind and generous to so many and especially to my Mother and me. Thinking of Carol and her fantastic, and yes sometimes cuttingly dry, sense of humour brings smiles to our faces as we relive many of those great times spent together. Her genuine caring for people will never be forgotten as we continue to celebrate her life. God bless Carol.

Dear Alan and Cynthia, I can't believe that my wonderful, funny, talented, buddy is gone. So many wonderful memories of afternoons that turned into evenings of laughter and stories. I am so sorry for you both. I heard today via Beth Evans or I would have been there this week. Please know that you are both in my heart. She was a fabulous woman and will be dearly missed.

We'll both miss Carol, personally, and in my case as a colleague over almost a decade. Her personality and skills left Carol's mark with anyone who had the good fortune to interact with her, and those will be great memories. Our condolences to Alan and the rest of the family at this untimely loss.

Alan & Cynthia, We are all fortunate to have known Carol. We are all happier because of our time with her. She made us feel more special than anyone else could. You were even more fortunate to have had her in your lives, for so long. But, sadly, not long enough. We will never forget her. George & Adrienne Chajes P.S. She taught me more, about accounting, than I learned in undergrad and in grad school, and in all my other 30-years of business, both before and after my time with her. Also, if I ever set foot in the Centre Street Deli again, it will only in memory of her. I used to count the days to our semi-annual lunches, there. For now, I wouldn't think of going there, as they'd think me crazy to be sitting, at a table and crying. George

Let's shed no tears for Carol, The life that late she led, Should be remembered for it's joy, And bring a smile instead. She brought a sense of gladness, To everyone she met. A joke she didn't laugh at? We haven't heard it yet. She liked the business challenge, She also loved to dine. And even on occasion, She'd take a sip of wine. So in the days and years to come, Although she is apart, The memories that are Carol, Will stay within our heart.

Bill and I were introduced to Carol through Doug and Joanne. Her strength and generosity shone through, as well as being a lovely and witty woman. Before Bill's illness he was Carol's "handyman" at the townhouse corporation. She was held in very high esteem by the residents. I will never forget the way she stepped up after our friend Joanne passed away and ensured that everything was taken care of for the reception afterwards. She was a kind, strong and generous woman who will be greatly missed. Rest in Peace, Carol. Bill and Georgina.

Alan and Cynthia, Carol's sudden and untimely illness and ultimate passing were both tragic and unsuspected. Carol is forever etched in my memory as that wonderful lady who so warmly and genuinely cared about the well-being of so many others. Although I had known Carol from the time she was a preschooler growing up with my sister Heather and during the life-long friendship between her mother Ede and my mother Agnes, I only personally grew to truly appreciate and experience her wonderful inherent nature in caring for her fellow man and woman. She unassumingly "adopted" me more than two years ago with the sudden and unforeseen illness and ultimate passing of my wife Joanne. It was Carol and Alan who kept in contact with me, virtually each and every day either in person or on the telephone, to make sure that I was in good health and spirits also well-fed. I dearly will miss those wonderful dinners, celebratory occasions out and about and the twice weakly takeaway home-cooked meals, sometimes, to her abject horror, shared with my best four-legged friend Buddy Whatishisname. Luckily, Buddy was "tolerated" by Carol on rare occasions in her home. He, as was I,were often the target of Carol's dry wit and poignant sarcasm if we dared to cross swords with her ultimately creating some humourous situations for all concerned. Her financial acumen and just "plain good business sense" resulted in her having a most respected career in the corporate community. I count myself very lucky in being able to have had a wonderful visit with Carol at Sunnybrook Hospital last week. Our trip from her room down to the first floor did not go without some criticism by Carol on my personal operating skills in "pushing a wheel chair correctly", but, yet again, it was followed by a combined chuckle. We talked about many things and shared a few great memories. Alan and Cynthia, it is up to you and I as well as everyone who knew her well to personally strive to continue to share Carol's love of life and caring for her fellow human beings. There isn't a time when I think of Carol that a smile comes to my face and a feeling of warmth in my heart. Like you I will miss her so much. God Bless Carol Doug Philpott
