I started with the TTC in '79, a young engineer fresh out school with no practical experience. I was awed and amazed by Aubrey. He commanded so much respect and yet, he was a simple unpretentious man, always approachable and willing to help. Aubrey was a true gentleman, an honest, hard working unselfish man, who will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
Thank you Aubrey and God Bless You.

Wendy, Norman, Cynthia and Nancy I read of your Dad's passing with sadness and with joy at remembering him and your mother as such wonderful neighbours on Norden. As a young musician growing up I had a constant flow of broken electronics which I never took to a formal repair shop. They all went to the back door of Mr. Martin's house and down the stairs to his shop. Always fixed, never any charge. He and your mother were the most positive and giving people I could ever hope to meet. You are so fortunate to have had them as parents/in-laws. My thoughts are with you and them at this time of loss.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I worked with Aubrey for over 20 years in the TTC's Subway Construction Branch (later known as the E&C Branch). Aubrey was one of those rare individuals you meet and will never forget. My memories of him will be as someone who was always positive, enthusiastic and ready to jump in and take up any challenge that was thrown at him. These traits progressed him through the ranks in the TTC's Operations and Subway Construction branches to become Manager of the Construction Department. He was a gentleman in the true sense of the word. It was always a pleasure meeting with him to deal with issues. When he had already retired I used to see him at the Commission Builders' Christmas luncheon and was taken by the zeal and enthusiasm he had maintained for his hobbies and tackling challenges. At one luncheon, when I believe he was in his 70s, he awed a group of us by mentioning nonchalantly that he just finishing re roofing a house. Truly one of a kind!

I had the privilege of working with Aubrey at the TTC for 33 years. He was a wonderful person who was always there to help you in any way possible. He was a special friend who helped me through some tough times over the years and I shall always be thankful to him for his guidance and help. He was an asset to the TTC and they should be very proud to have had him in the old Subway Construction Dept. After we retired we met a few times a year for lunch with other retirees at the Mandarin Restaurant and he always had a story to tell about his many talents and hobbies. Aubrey will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends - but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with the family . Fred Bostock

It was an honour to have known Aubrey while he worked at the TTC. His wisdom and inspiration still resides in those of us that remain and carry on the legacy.
