To Roberta's Family We were saddened to hear of Roberta's passing and you are in our thoughts. Roberta was a great friend of our late mother, Paula M. Bremner, and their friendship spanned many years during their time living in the Avoca community. Roberta was so very kind to our mother when she was ill and we so appreciated the many visits. Roberta was a gracious lady and we know will be missed by all of you. The Bremner Family

Dear Doug, Gordon joins me in offering our most sincere condolences to you and your family at the loss of that marvelous woman, your Mother, Roberta. We got to know her from our annual Gilbert & Sullivan gatherings and I learned & admired her knowledge & wit and amazing ability to 'stay young'! We know she will be missed but the memories she left remain and will never fade. Much Love,

Dear Doug, I chatted briefly with you at my brother Bill Palk’s funeral. Roberta and I attended Riverbend School for Girls in Winnipeg. She was in Grade 11 and I was in kindergarten. I did want you to know that I thought Roberta’s obituary was well-written, uplifting, and amusing. Congratulations to you all for composing it. Sincerely, Helen Palk Riley

My memories of Roberta come from my childhood in Winnipeg before the Turners moved to Toronto and then several years later, at "Maple Glen" for a weekend during a family vacation (myself and four younger siblings) with my father, Keith Turner.
Roberta was the most fascinating Aunt (Great) and her grace, warmth, not to mention patience and good humour was evident. She was faced with five kids aged sixteen to nine who had an abundance of energy. I remember her showing us to our country style bedrooms, all beds covered with with extra warm cosy HBC blanket. I can't recall her doing anything other than cooking and serving meals over those couple of days. Of course, she quickly organized a non-negotiable roster at mealtime: table setting and dish washing. I recall something spilling in the kitchen at breakfast. In the blink of an eye, she found a dish cloth, dropped it on the floor and then used her foot to move the cloth to magically clean up the spill. Poof! It was done as smoothly as any magician producing A white dove from a pocket handkerchief! It was just like watching a master magician making a dove appear from within a pocket handkerchief. We all roared in fascination and delight! That surely was a most intelligent imaginative and ingenious trick! My deepest condolences to you all. She was such a sunny-side up human being. I bet she made a lemon meringue pie that weekend too!
