Obituary of Brian Laramie

LARAMIE, Brian George - Born January 26,1955Brian passed away peacefully on April 23, 2008. Beloved husband of Marianne Harris; loving father of sons Matthew and Richard; devoted son of Kenneth and Barbara Laramie; dear brother of Julie Brown (nee Laramie). Brian loved life and had bravely fought cancer since 2006. His endless pursuit of fun was rewarded through the good times he had with his family, friends and at work. He was proud of his career as a financial advisor and his clients often became friends. Brian was fiercely independent, had an indomitable spirit and was a caring and gentle man. He was passionate about travel with Marianne, rattling the pans as a chef, fine wine, movies and his sons. Brian held very strong views on a wide range of subjects and was never shy about sharing those views. As generous as he was with his opinions, he was just as generous with his time and compassion. Brian loved cars and good tools for their implicit beauty and functionality. He also believed there was only one way to do things - the right way. Brian lived by the code of a gentle man, which formed his deep sense of duty and obligation to his family, his friends and his clients. Our many wonderful friends, as well as Brian's friends from the lodge, hockey, the wombats and RBC provided great support during his illness. Brian's courageous battle was assisted by many. A special thank you to all the medical staff at the Gerry Pencer Brain Tumour Clinic and the Princess Margaret Hospital - Palliative Care. The family will receive friends at the HUMPHREY FUNERAL HOME - A.W. MILES CHAPEL, 1403 Bayview Avenue (south of Eglinton Avenue East), for a celebration of Brian's life from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, April 25, 2008. A Funeral Service on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 11 o'clock in ST. CLEMENT'S ANGLICAN CHURCH, 59 Briar Hill, Toronto.
