My condolences,Gerald , on your great loss. I had the privilege to be situated across the hall from Gwladys's classroom at Blythwood for several years. She was wonderful to have as a colleague. She was inspirational as a teacher ' Gwlad will be remembered and missed. With appreciation, Mary Broadfoot

Since I cannot attach the old picture, I wish to describe it and the moment, as it represents Gwladys' character and how she interacted with children.
Setting: outdoor deck at the cottage; Event: examining a caterpillar.
Gwladys is holding a fuzzy caterpillar on her hand, both she and the children (our daughter and son, aged 4 and 5 years at the time) are bent over her hand examining the insect.
The expressions of intent interest on their faces, including Gwladys' capture the essence of her caring nature and desire to always inform young minds.
A cherished memory that I have and that I know both my children remember (now in their 20s).
Thanks Gwladys for being such a wonderful role model to us all.
with love from Glenda and her family

Mrs Tanner is one of the reasons why I became a teacher. She was the best teacher I ever had, and I was lucky enough to be in her class for grades 2 and 3.
She was inspirational, fun, but always expected a lot of her students. When I am teaching, I think of her example and how she always made each of us feel special and important. When my gran died, I remember Mrs Tanner taking the time out of her program to talk to the students about loss and what that meant, and taking the time to make me feel better.
I was lucky enough to have lunch with Mrs Tanner when I was 30 and had been teaching for six years. It was wonderful to see that she was as incredible to me as an adult as she had been when I was 7 and 8 years old.
Her impact can't be underestimated. She was an incredible teacher and inspired all of us to make the world a better place.

Mrs. Tanner will always be my favourite teacher from Blythwood - she was a great influence on me and I truly enjoyed her dedication to education. Grades 2 and 3 were the best of times; I and may others owe Mrs. Tanner a huge debt that can never be repaid. Thank you, Mrs. Tanner, for everything.

Uncle Gerald, I'm so very sorry that Galdy's time has come and you are having to go on without he. I know it's bee difficult watching her struggle with pain for so long. You have bee the best of husbands in caring for her these many years while she recovered from multiple surgeries. It hasn't been easy by any stretch. Please accept Brian's and my deepest sympathy and know how sorry we are that we could not make it to Toronto to be there to honor Gwladys on the occasion of her passing. She will be greatly missed by the family and all who knew her. with much love, Pam
