Obituary of Fay Morgan
Fay Davis Morgan (nee Skinner)
With great sorrow we announce the passing of Fay Davis Morgan at Belmont House on February 5, 2014. Fay leaves her loving children Marie, Brian, Sandra and Heather, beloved grandsons Morgan Kurchak and Harlan Bennett, niece May McLennan and special friends Tim Buell, Greg Bennett and Bill Kurchak. Born in Glasgow, Scotland the youngest of four children, "wee Fay" was gifted in scholarship, art and music—perhaps inherited from her great uncle, the legendary Scottish fiddler and composer J. Scott Skinner. Tragically she lost her mother at age 14 when the family home was struck by a bomb in World War II. While her two brothers fought overseas, she worked inspecting periscopes and put her talent to use when she and sister Netta began a small millinery enterprise. With her new husband Maurice, she emigrated to Canada where they raised Marie and Brian. After working as a bank officer and manager of a tax preparation service, she stopped to raise Sandra and Heather. Tragically she did it mostly alone, after Maurice was killed in a traffic accident. Fay's honesty, rare sensitivity, generosity and kindness were a model for all of us. While her quick wit and piano playing continued long after dementia began its ravages, her sweet smile was there until the end. Rest finally in peace Fay. We love you and hope to keep the message of your life in our hearts and minds.
Please visit the family on March 2, from noon until 3 pm at the Belmont House solarium.
