Obituary of Ian Motley
MOTLEY, IAN PHILLIPS
April 29, 1949 - January 16, 2014
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ian on January 16, 2014 at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, following an unwaveringly courageous battle with brain cancer, and much too early at the age of 64. He was the adored husband and best friend of Arlene for 42 years, and will be dearly missed by his sons Derek (Dianna McLeod) and Kevin (Julianne Brimfield), as well as his beloved sister Eleanor Turner, brother-in-law Ian, and nephews Andrew and Jeff (Evelyne Bouchard). He was predeceased by his loving parents, Doris and Phillips Motley and by his younger brother, Donald. Ian was born and grew up in Montreal. He had a lifelong passion for motor sports, and raced cars professionally for several years in the early 1970's. He then came to Toronto with Arlene and entered the commercial flooring industry. He rose from order desk to president of a mid-sized flooring company in Mississauga, and later founded and operated his own successful business, CDS Distribution. The funeral service will be held on January 30, 2014 at YORKMINSTER PARK BAPTIST CHURCH, 1585 Yonge Street, Toronto, to begin at 2:00pm, reception to follow. Interment will take place this summer at Ian's beloved Métis-sur-Mer, Quebec. Condolences and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymiles.com.
